Splinter Kick (splinterkick.com) is a free browser game made by offmylawn. This page explains what information the game uses, why, and the choices you have. You can play without creating an account and without giving us your real name.
What is stored in your browser
The game keeps a few settings in your browser's local storage: the fighter name you typed, whether you hid the controls panel, and your best round in the singleplayer arena. They stay on your device, are not sent to us as a profile, and you can remove them at any time by clearing this site's data in your browser.
What our game server sees
When you play online, your browser connects to our game server. To run the fight, the server receives your IP address (as any website does), the name you chose (or a guest name it makes up), your controls and your fighter's movements, and any chat messages you send. Names and chat are filtered for offensive words. This information is used to run the game and keep it working and fair; we do not sell it.
Tokens and the store (playing on Wavedash)
Tokens, revives and the cosmetic store work only when you play on Wavedash signed in to a Wavedash account. Then our game server receives your Wavedash user ID and display name, and keeps your token balance, the items you own and wear, your daily streak and challenge progress, your best round, and a record of what changed your balance. Your display name may appear on the weekly online board. Token packs are bought through Wavedash, which handles payment: we receive a signed receipt naming the pack bought, never your payment details. On splinterkick.com you play as a guest, and nothing about your tokens is kept.
Usage measurement
We measure how the game is used (for example page visits, starting a match or a run, and the round reached) with a self-hosted instance of OpenPanel, an open-source analytics tool. This helps us find bugs and decide what to improve. The data stays on our own server and is not shared with advertisers.
Advertising and cookies
We may show ads to keep the game free. Ads are served by third-party vendors, including Google. Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this website or other websites. Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visits to this site and/or other sites on the Internet.
You may opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google's Ads Settings. You can also opt out of some third-party vendors' use of cookies for personalized advertising at www.aboutads.info.
